2026 Sports Awards Night Celebrates Student-Athletes

Bay Ridge Prep Athletics concluded another remarkable year with the annual Sports Awards Night, a special evening dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments, friendships, memories, championships, and record-setting performances that defined the 2025-26 athletic season.

Students, families, coaches, faculty, and staff gathered to recognize the hard work, dedication, and achievements of Upper School student-athletes across all Tigers programs. The event highlighted not only athletic excellence but also the character, leadership, and community spirit that are hallmarks of Bay Ridge Prep Athletics.

The evening’s highest honors were the presentation of the Tiger Award for Overall Excellence, the most prestigious athletic recognition awarded by the school. This year’s recipients were graduating seniors Selina Psarras, Sophia Saadi, and Wyatt Powers.

Presented to student-athletes who exemplify outstanding character, sportsmanship, leadership, school spirit, and excellence in athletic performance, the Tiger Award recognizes individuals whose impact extends far beyond competition.

Throughout their time at Bay Ridge Prep, Selina, Sophia, and Wyatt distinguished themselves as leaders, role models, and dedicated teammates. Their commitment helped strengthen athletic programs, build community, and inspire younger student-athletes. Having already left their mark on Bay Ridge Prep Athletics through record-setting performances and historic achievements, all three seniors will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Wyatt will compete in long-distance events at Vassar College, while Selina will play softball and Sophia will compete in javelin at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to receiving their awards, coaches delivered heartfelt tributes that reflected not only the athletic accomplishments of each student but also the positive energy, leadership, and character they brought to their teams and to the Bay Ridge Prep community.

In addition to the Tiger Awards, each Upper School team recognized student-athletes with three team-selected honors: the Momentum Medal, the Spirit & Leadership Medal, and the All ISAL Award. The Momentum Medal honors student-athletes who consistently developed and improved their skills throughout the season, demonstrating commitment to growth and learning. The Spirit & Leadership Medal recognizes athletes who serve as positive influences on their teams through leadership, encouragement, and exemplary sportsmanship. The All ISAL Award is presented to student-athletes whose skill, determination, and passion for their sport made them driving forces behind their team’s success.

The evening also celebrated graduating seniors with two additional distinctions. The Legacy Award honored student-athletes who demonstrated long-term commitment to Bay Ridge Prep Athletics by participating in one or more sports programs beginning in Lower School or Middle School and continuing through Upper School. The Blue & White Award recognized graduating student-athletes who participated in multiple athletic seasons throughout their Upper School careers while serving as positive ambassadors for both the athletics program and the broader school community. Their commitment, integrity, and dedication embody the values of Bay Ridge Prep both on and off the field of play.

As another successful athletic year comes to a close, Sports Awards Night served as a reminder that Bay Ridge Prep Athletics is about far more than wins and losses. It is about the relationships built, lessons learned, leadership developed, and community strengthened through sport.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients and to every student-athlete who proudly represented the Tigers throughout the 2025-26 school year. Through their dedication, perseverance, and school spirit, they continue to exemplify what it means to be a Bay Ridge Prep Tiger.
