Chris Nuesell has been with Bay Ridge Prep since September of 2001, initially serving as the Director of the Bridge Program for the Upper School and then as the Director of Guidance. He was named Upper School Co-Director in 2021. He has worked in the field of education for over 35 years with experience teaching at the lower, middle, high school and college levels.
Chris has taught numerous courses in Psychology and Mathematics over his 20+ years at Bay Ridge Prep, including honors sections of Introduction to Psychology and College Psychology. He holds a Ph.D. in School Psychology from Fordham University, and is a New York State Licensed Psychologist, Certified School Psychologist, and Certified Special Education Teacher. Prior to joining the Bay Ridge Prep family, Chris served as Senior Psychologist at Coney Island Hospital in the Department of Pediatrics, and taught in various high school and college settings, including serving as an adjunct professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education. As a psychologist, he had a private practice on Staten Island for almost twenty years.
An accomplished musician, entrepreneur, and hobbyist, Chris loves to share his knowledge and expertise with students at Bay Ridge Prep, having run many clubs and activities over the years. His wife also teaches at our school and they are proud parents of an Upper School student.
