Community Celebrates Marathoners

Marathon Sunday is always a special day for New York City and Bay Ridge Prep is so happy to be part of it, celebrating the runners — including some of our very own Bay Ridge Prep parents, faculty and alumni — with live music, signs and loud cheers as they pass by our Upper School Building on Fourth Avenue.

Andrea Saadi, P ‘26 & ‘27, has ran the NYC Marathon twice and helped spearhead the Bay Ridge Prep Marathon Party this year as a member of the school’s Parent Guild.

“I can say wholeheartedly that this is a day where New York City is at its finest,” Saadi said, “where everyone’s differences are put aside and there is a prevailing spirit of unity, community and positive energy.”

Over 50,000 runners passed by the Upper School building on 74th Street and Fourth Avenue. Each one one them, Saadi said, has “overcome a combination of personal and physical struggles and exhibited willpower and courage just to cross the starting line.”

This year’s Bay Ridge Prep runners included faculty member Lisa Neesemann as well as parents Gerard Betro, Amanda D’Acierno and Marc Sturm. Congratulations to all the runners who completed the 26.2 mile journey through the city’s five boroughs!
