What is something that makes Bay Ridge Prep really unique? … Intersession!
Each year, for three days, the entire school takes a break from regular classes to curate a fun schedule filled with collaborative, hands-on experiential activities across different grade levels.
Taking advantage of all of the incredible resources available in Brooklyn and throughout New York City, both students and teachers take a deep dive into different interests that go beyond the usual day-to-day academic studies.
Offering something for everyone, Intersession is another reason why Bay Ridge Prep is a “home away from home” for our students. Check out the video above to see this incredible vision come to life!
Upper School Intersession
Intersession is a three day enrichment experience for students and teachers. In the Upper School, students’ schedules will be built around intense and immersive workshops (which they will select in advance); these workshops will be facilitated by faculty members, outside professionals and even some of their peers.
Intersession workshops – some of them broken up over the course of three days, some lasting a full day – will differ from traditional classes offered at Bay Ridge Prep. Rather than academic experiences tied to letter grades and arranged by grade level, Intersession workshops will provide opportunities for students and teachers to meet in mixed groups for in-depth engagement in activities such as art, activism, athletics, civics, life skills, media, fitness, sustainability, theater, writing and more.
Think of this as a mini-conference for students, happening right here at Bay Ridge Prep, all aimed at expanding and enhancing their Upper School experience!
Lower & Middle School Intersession
Each year, the Lower & Middle School chooses three days in the middle of winter to break up their daily schedule so students can work in multi-age Lower School groups and Middle School groups. Projects center around one theme. Themes from year’s past have included:
