Part of the founding group of faculty members, Dean is a multifaceted educator who has taught a variety of high school English, History and Theater courses in grades 9-12 for over 28 years. He is a New York State Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Special education teacher. In his capacity as a school psychologist, he can often be found offering guidance to students during and after school. Dean is also a Learning Specialist who performs individual and group counseling and support sessions.

Dean taught at Adelphi Academy for three years before joining Bay Ridge Prep founders Dr. Charles Fasano and Dr. Michael Dealy on what he calls an “educational odyssey” when Drs. Fasano and Dealy, along with several longtime colleagues and friends, opened the doors to Bay Ridge Prep in 1998. In the school’s early years, Dean developed and directed the Upper School theater program. He now instructs students in set design while they and theatre alums work together in constructing and building sets for Bay Ridge Prep plays. He also teaches an elective class in improvisation and offers public speaking workshops for students.

Outside of Bay Ridge Prep, Dean has started to assemble a photography portfolio and is an accomplished athlete and softball coach. He completed 11 New York City Marathons and earned a seventh degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He instructs his own karate class and coaches several girls’ softball teams for the Red Devils of the Dyker Heights Athletic Association. He is the proud husband of Tamarra Jenkin-Bevilacqua and the two are active dancers who pursue dance lessons in Lindy Hop – East Coast Swing, Hustle, and other ballroom dances, and are parents of two wonderful and multi-talented girls.
