Shannon began her career at Bay Ridge Prep interning as a 1st grade assistant teacher in 2016. During that time, Shannon studied Special Education and Speech as an undergraduate in St. Joseph’s College. Shannon then earned her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Molloy College in 2019. She returned to Bay Ridge Prep as a full-time faculty member later that Fall. She has experience evaluating, diagnosing, and treating students with deficits in the areas of receptive and expressive language, phonology, articulation, motor speech, pragmatic language, fluency, literacy, auditory processing, and executive functioning. Shannon holds certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) and she is also trained in the Orton Gillingham Approach to literacy, a multisensory method for teaching reading and language skills. In addition to her role as the Lower School Speech Language Pathologist, Shannon coordinates the After-School Program where she enjoys spending time with students in various grade levels. In her free time, Shannon enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, attending concerts and rooting on her favorite New York sports teams. She currently resides in and is a lifelong resident of Bay Ridge.
